What a trip.
Little Bay the Best Way
A few new ideas for you to consider here.
When you go to Little Bay be sure not to take a boat there. Drive up and park. As you look directly out at sea, there is a path to your left. That path leads to a famous ROPE repel, but you can also take it all the way to the sea level.
At the end of the walk you will be on some rock and just about 6 inches above the water at a great starting point for a snorkel. From this point you can snorkel in towards the beach along the rock coast and then go to the other side and catch the interesting shallows and rock formations.
There are a lot of fish here and some very huge schools....Snorkel everywhere within the bouys is fine on almost all days. Make sure you swim back towards the beach and then across and back to the rock edge where you first jumped in. The current works best that way.
And now for getting in and getting out. Do not lightly step in. There are urchins along the wall. You need to fin up and mask up and jump in about 1 foot from the rocks.
Now for getting out. You will notice at the edge a PVC Pipe marking the land ownership lines. That Pipe is a good place to get out at. You need some strength, but less that you need to use the rope to climb back out. You should leave towels at this location and be sure to evaluate under the water so you know where the urchins are. You do not want to step on one. Don't be afraid to swim towards Crocus Bay 40 or 50 feet to find other areas you feel comfortable with in getting out. It makes for a great day. You will love it.
The Ku
We stayed at the Ku Resort on Shoal Bay for the first time. We have been many times and finally stayed where we wanted to be. What a great choice. I highly recommend the Ku as your place to stay.
Restaurants
We continue to think that for those of you who like to eat out but don't think of yourselves as "special", Oliver's contines to be the best place. Just try to go earlier than most because around 8 or 9 PM they begin to get a bit slow. The food is always good.
Flavours continues to kind of impress, but not as much as Oliver's. Have a dinner there and see what you think. You won't be disappointed, but you can do better.
Uncle Ernie's is the place for ribs!!! and Elodia's is the place for Fish Sandwiches. Also on Sunday you must go for the local music night.
As always Shoal Bay is the place for fun and new friends, but drive out to Captain's Bay. If you want a long hike drive past Hibernia Restaurant and keep going. You will notice a road to the right after a bit...take that if you want to drive to it on a dirt road and do not take it if you want to hike over moderate terrain for exercise and experience.
Chocolat
Do the Chocolat from Sandy Ground for sure. It is the best $80 you will spend. The lunch on Prickly Pare is Great and the sail is relaxing. Get a drink a Ripple's afterward. The the next day take a tour of Pyrat Rum when they are bottling. It is good stuff.
So much for this Trip...Email if you want advice. We are going back in November.
