First you need to know that the best beaches on the island in order of quality of water and sand are

1. Happy Bay

2. Anse Marcel

3. Orient Bay

To eat it once was La Amadier in Grand Case. That is closed as are a whole bunch of other restaurants. The escalation of the EURO and the economy together basically did in much of the restaurant business. The bigger established guys survived, but the best eating was always at the smaller eclectic shops. They are all but gone.
